Rangifer I enjoy watching birds in all parts of Edmonton, especially the parks along the river valley. I'm a biologist by training and a bird-lover at heart. Corvids are among my favourite birds, though I've yet to see a bird that does not capture me with its beau

Now this was cool...a large raven flying around Churchill Square with what looked like a piece of bread in his/her mouth. I do not think it was one of the Capilano pair. I've seen a pair of ravens around Churchill Square in the past. It leads me to believe the river is a boundary between the two pairs' home ranges. If I had the time, it would be interesting to map out the city's raven home ranges.

One member of the Capilano pair...this was fascinating: he or she was in a standoff with three magpies over some spilled food in the Capilano Safeway parking lot. They kept bluffing each other, hopping forward, hopping back, fly-hops, vocalizations, all very dramatic. I didn't see how it ended.
