House Sparrows
I'm not sure how my husband got this shot of 11 of the 30 - 40 sparrows that are in our yard all the time now. This bunch had been in the lilac bush beside our house, but when I walked by, they swooshed out of it and onto our roof.
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Not a very clear photo, I'm afraid, but the little fellow is still identifiable, I think.
Late afternoon at varioius feeers and on ground in our backyard. It was really funny watching them (& the Blue Jays) trying to get at the sunflower seeds in the tube feeder. The tray was too small for them to stand on and they were flapping their wings like mad to maintain their balance. One actually fell off, landing on its feet on the grass!
Blue Jays
One of the 3 that were at the various feeders in our backyard late this afternoon. It was really funny watching them try to get at the sunflower seeds in the tube feeder. The tray was too small for them to stand on and they were flapping their wings like mad to maintain their balance. But they kept coming back. Hopefully they'll discover the sunflower seeds in the larger feeder my husband made just for them.

Earlier this afternoon; they came to the sunflower feeder - about 3 1/2 feet from where my husband & I were standing!! - snatched a sunflower seed, then flew to a branch about 4 feet away from us, cracked it open and ate it. They did this for a good 5 minutes, with the two of us watching motionless. I think one was a juvenile because it was noticeably smaller than the other and even more fearless.

Have been in & out of our yard & the woods behind us for the last couple of weeks - 2 parents & 3 juveniles. Early afternoon - Mama Mallard followed closely by 4 babies held up traffic on 99 Ave., just west of 172 St.. After crossing the road, she led her babies across the lawn of one of the seniors' residences on the south side of the avenue. I have no idea where she was going, as I don't know of any ponds or lakes closer than 95 Ave. & 176 St. and that's a long way to waddle! She seemed to have a destination in mind tho'!
Every day for the last week or so - flying through and roosting in woods behind our house, foraging in yards, and squawking - LOUDLY - constantly!!! They appear to be the pair that built a nest not far from our yard with 4 fledglings.

Late morning - foraging in our backyard. It looked like it was teasing a male House sparrow because it kept following the sparrow around and around a bush and everywhere the sparrow went on the lawn. Then, suddenly, for no apparent reason, a Red-winged Blackbird flew aggressively at the Vireo & chased it out of the yard. I was surprised, because usually the Red-wings just ignore the other birds in the yard.
