Notes Yesterday - early afternoon. While working in one of our flowerbeds, I counted 7 Pine Siskins on & around the finch feeder above me. There were 5 on the feeder and 2 in the tree.
Weather Sunny. +18C

-they have been around our neighborhood but have not come very often to the feeders; our predominance of House Finches (20 +- ) may be keeping them away. I can hear them and have been looking for the yellow, that so nicely shows on your shots.

Thanks, Jim. This is the first year we've had so many. We've never had more than one or two and this is the most we've ever had at the finch feeder. It's as if they suddenly discovered it.

-guess the Pine Siskins are not intimidated by the number of House Finches in our backyard; 20 Siskins arrived today and were everywhere, sharing all areas with the 30 House Sparrows and the 30 House Finches! :o))

Wow! What's your secret to so many birds?? The most we ever get of one kind are the 30 or so house sparrows that have been around for the last month. We don't have more than 10 of any other species.
