Not Rare. We have a breeding colony of 25-40 birds in my neighbourhood of Estevan. They are year round residents, only surviving the severe weather because of backyard feeders, fresh water sources and large spruce trees. Four winters ago there was a single dove staying the winter (in my yard). There are other populations in southern SK (Moose Jaw, Swift Current and probably others) and in SW Manitoba (Lyleton)
