-in relation to your location, I was thinking that they were heading toward Big Lake, but I was unable to see any open water on the BLESS (Big Lake Environment Support Society) web cam : ( http://www.bless.ab.ca/WebCam/indexA.html )

Most of them are heading to open crop fields to feed on left-over grain
