RR20 Gravel Pit Ponds (NW of Stony Plain)
| About | These old gravel pits are now commercial fish ponds. This make them a certain stop-over for birds with an appetite for fish! |
| Notable birds | American Bald Eagle and Double Crested Comorants. Likely pelicans as well. |
| Travel | Drive east on the Yellowhead Highway west of Edmonton past Stony Plain and then look for the Sky Diving signs. Turn NORTH on RR20. After passing through some beautiful rolling hills, the road levels out and passes some of the old gravel ponds before the turn off to the Sky Diving operation. There is a small lake to the east as well... but some accesses are posted as No Trespassing, and some are not! |
